I might install oxygen until ubuntu touch at least has wi-fi, I'd probably hold still and just wait for a wi-fi upload, but if its not close then I can't really use my OPO for anything...

Don't even bother installing Oxygen. It's just AOSP with functions like double tap to wake and bugs. In my opinion you're way better of just using cm11S, cm12 or any other ROM like exodus, Blisspop or Euphoria.

I usually don't notice any difference in ui fluidity between ROMs. I did notice that drawing the circle gesture brings you to the camera awfully fast in Oxygen.

Part of the thing is I don't even know if I should bother because as soon as wifi works on ubuntu anyways I'm gonna switch back to it, I know android and have it on the phone I'm currently using so I don't need to flash android back on my opo.

First I thought I might try sailfish since that has wifi and is different from android so it might keep me amused for a little while and I don't need to go back to android, but I found that apparently you need android and mutirom.

So I thought I might try oxygen, it might not have as many features as cyanogen but might be an interesting thing to look at, but it does pretty much look like cm12 but without some features...

So I'm a bit stuck, because if within the week ubuntu for the opo does release with wifi then its really been pointless to install one of the os's, at least if it was something like sailfish, if an update for ubuntu on the opo with wifi did come out, well I've experienced and learnt about another OS, but otherwise it feels like waisted time and effort, but if its 3+ weeks well then it'd be more worth it because I'd be able to use my opo for enough time to justify installing some version of android for a little while...

You don't need multirom for SailfishOS, it's an extra if you want to try the alpha... And you should, because it's great :)
WiFi and sound; 3g/4g working; voice is still missing though, but maybe coming very soon, along with camera..

Oh, and from what people write in the forums oxygen is not worth installing, since it's a pure AOSP with some minor improvements and a lot of bugs.

So if I download the sailfish zip and just flash that, it'll boot into sailfish Alpha 2?

You still need to flash CM11 first, however I'm not an expert (i have it with multirom). You'll not experience any Android, you just need some basis for WiFi, GPS, GSM, etc. I guess. Maybe the developer who build it for OnePlus (@vgrade) can give you more info? I think he's running it directly on his OPO.

You can also find more info in the main sailfish thread, which is pinned in the Development section

I've only seen it with mutiboot and instructions with multi-rom so I've never really looked at the developer stuff, but with how you install GAPP's on Cyanogen it might just be a case of, first flash 11 then flash sailfish over it, but I thought, I won't bother trying if things say you NEED multi-rom, but if you say you can I could try that!

I don't think you will be able to use Ubuntu Touch on our phone for a while, Why don't you just install multirom? I am running cm11s cm12 (my main os) and Ubuntu Touch

    Hey guys,
Small update, feels like i have gotten closer. We are now getting a lot more hardware messages in my dmesg like the modem trying to start.

Rotation also started working... sometimes lol.

Here is my latest dmesg log http://paste.ubuntu.com/10770513/
Maybe some will recognise an issue they know how to fix, let me know.

Awesome that you're working on this. Many people here, including me, would love to see Ubuntu Touch on the OpO! I don't have any porting experience, but I'm supporting you guys from the sideline! Go go go! :)
