Why Is There 3.92GB of Storage Being Used After 7.1.1 Update?

    Andrizzy R, Mar 17, 2017 :
I just downloaded the 7.1.1 update via OTA and right after the reboot I went straight to the storage option to check if there was any unnecessary stuff left from the update

Then I saw 3.92GB worth of data in the "Other" section (see picture #1) when I never even had more than a couple MB in that section since I got the phone back in September, but never gigs of data.

Even after all sorts of updates I've never had any sort of GB left over in the "Other" section and I've tried all sorts of things to try to delete this unwanted GB but nothing seems to work, will I have to factory reset guys...?

    Please help me out, thanks

EDIT: I've just ended up factory resetting my phone through recovery because I could not find a solution, and thought that would solve the storage problem however the problem is STILL there... 4.04GB in "Other", even more then what I had previously (see picture #2)

So DO NOT FACTORY RESET your phone guys! Hopefully OnePlus will fix this problem in the next update or something...

I don't like it tbh. It really shouldn't be there at all if it was never there from the start, why be there now?

Yup it was nearly empty before the update, had 1mb in that section so having 3.92GB afterwards was quite the surprise and I use my phone just from mobile gaming mostly and some social media stuff. Not much

In Twrp there is a file shown that size as "system image" my big guess is that it is what is used for in the factory reset.

What's the big deal? I had 21GB of files in the 'other' folder in question. It is where the shared/downloaded files by apps or even those received by the Bluetooth transfers. Open the folder and delete if you don't need them.
