Week 170: We Upgrade Our Android, Fly to Paris, and Ask Adam

    Chris dB, Mar 18, 2017 :

Ready for a fresh batch of straight fire? We’re back with your weekly fix of OnePlus news. This week was so crammed with awesome stuff, we had trouble fitting all of the best bits in here. While the biggest news was Parisian in nature, we’ve also got a new update to talk about, as well as an inspiring OnePlus photographer on Instagram. So without further ado, let’s get this show on the road.

    Time to Update
Updates for OxygenOS come in many different shapes and sizes. While some feature long requested bug fixes and minor ease-of-use enhancements, others provide a dramatic upgrade. OxygenOS 4.1.0 belongs in that latter category, mostly thanks to the upgrade to Android 7.1. Beyond that long expected update though, OxygenOS 4.1.0 also features improved EIS capabilities and a new expanded screenshot feature. Have you gotten your hands on the latest OTA yet? Let us know what you think.

    Only at colette
This week’s biggest news came in the form of an all-new version of the OnePlus 3T. Developed in conjunction with colette Paris, the OnePlus 3T colette edition sets itself apart with a striking black color. Exclusive in every sense of the word, the limited edition of the OnePlus 3T will be available at the iconic boutique in Paris on the 21st of March. Only 250 units will be sold in total, so you really don’t want to sit this one out.

    Contest: Fly to Paris
Eager to get your hands on the OnePlus 3T colette edition, but is Paris a little out of the way? We’ve got just the thing for you! If you act quickly, you can still participate in our new contest. We’re giving one lucky winner a return trip to Paris to be the first to the drop of the OnePlus 3T colette edition on the 21st of March. Want to win? The clock is running down fast! Join before the contest ends later today here.

Note: Further terms and conditions do apply, refer to the contest page for more information.

    Ask Adam
Next week, everybody’s favorite wizard – barring Gandalf, Dumbledore, and the Wizard of Oz – will answer (almost) any questions you might have. @Adam Krisko has an intimate understanding of not just our products, but also our philosophy, and the community. If there’s anyone I’d trust to answer my questions directly and honestly, it’s him. So, start working on your most burning questions. This is going to be good.

    Spec Up
What’s cool about tech is that it’s all around us. At OnePlus, we’re not just in love with our phones, but we also love all of the gadgets we’ve got scattered around the house. Any techie will tell you that there’s few things better than a heavily customized, home-built desktop whirring at your desk. What’s your PC made of? Share your build in the thread by @Tokolozi .

    Instagram Spotlight: @arjunj7
There’s something refreshingly rugged about @arjunj7’s collection of photos. Many of his pics are tagged with ‘wanderlust’ and it’s not hard to see why. The picture highlighted below is just one of many shots that tell a real story. It’s clear that this talented #ShotonOnePlus photographer knows exactly where to find and capture the most stunning sights. Check out his channel for more.

That’ll be all for this week, friends! Don’t forget to join our contest to win a trip to Paris. We hope to see you again next week. Have a good one, fam!

@Tokolozi your thread got featured! Congrats!

@Chris dB thanks for yet another great weekly thread!

Since @Adam Krisko is now on the Beta team, is OnePlus 2 getting a beta?

Or just to spell it out more clearly:

Is the OnePlus 2 getting Nougat or not?

    Thanks for the update.

Regarding the questions to our wizard, I think we all know what they will mainly be about... :p :D

Now a bit more serious, @Adam Krisko, tell us a bit more about what you are doing now and what things can we expect to change in the nearby future. :)

Actually, since I'm asking questions that won't get answered anyway:

@Adam Krisko: If there's one thing I remember from my days as a mod is that the Forums and the Mods were something really close to your heart. So, why did you move to another team? Because to me it feels like you were pushed from one team to the other.

    Probably for a reason....or two.

    Here's a few question for @Adam Krisko

Why is OnePlus still shit at providing updates or even timely security patches to just the 3/3T and the 2 or whatever phones they still claim to support ?

Will the OP2 ever get bugfixes / updates that don't contain new bugs ?

What reason would you (as someone who still believes in OnePlus) give to convince us (OP2 and OPX users) to buy another OnePlus phone in the future ?

Oh....and (in your opinion) which other Admin / Staff member actually cares about the community here on the forums and not just the Facebook and Twitter ?
(Coz making pointless announcement threads here and not responding to people complaining doesn't count for much)

    And one last question....
Why does @Carl still have a forum account ? Can we get rid of him and his stupid threads here ?

I think that one reason for no software updates is too small/inexperienced developer team.

    Thanks for the update.

Still remember the days where the OP2 was mentioned.

But the hype train is still trying to chuck along.

It's a useless update  Totally worthless for OPO, OP2 and OPX but still You speak of it as we all can enjoy it!

They seem to have cash to spare since they're giving away close to a $153,000 to a winner in their India only contest.

Maybe they would have put that to good use by hiring some more people.

Yes. Confirmed by Q4 2018 :expressionless:

Maybe consider the fact that Updates ≠ Nougat for all people.

It's about keeping devices up to date on the security front....not version numbers.
