Volume down button stuck and phone doesn't turn on

A friend of mine dropped his Oneplus 3T this morning. His phone was on at that moment. He tried to power off his phone but nothing happened. Everything else worked just fine. So he longpressed his power-off button and it finally powered off. After that he tried to power on the phone but he quicky found out that his volume down button was stuck because of the earlier drop. The phone could only boot to recovery mode because of the stuck volume button. But after a few attempts the phone doesn't do anything anymore. We think the phone is still turned on because of the heat you can feel coming from the CPU. So my question is what should he do next? And do you think his phone is dead or is this fixable

Tell him to take it to the nearest service center.

It's physical damage and only service center people solve the problem.

I would use a precision screwdriver and try to unstick the button. Its probably just killed the battery. Don't charge it up until you fix this.

but it seems that it is still turned on as you can clearly feel the heat from the CPU.

If its in recovery..then try to clear cache and after that just select reboot option..maybe that will bypass the volume down button. I doubt it but its worth a shot.

You could try connecting it to a pc then using the adb command "adb reboot" it should attempt to reboot normally.

Already tried that, went into fastboot and did the fastboot reboot command. Rebooted to recovery again.
