It's definitely the price. The fact that we don't get removable battery or microSD card slot almost made me not get it

Of course the performance is the killer feature that made me buying my OP5.
Also the camera(s) are very interesting and I will stress them a lot.
I am very curious to try Oxygen OS (Now coming from a pure Android in Nexus 5).

Performance and bloatfree. I am fed up of Samsung trying to duplicate every Google app..

After carefully studying all the phones currently available and taking into account upcoming phones from Google, I can see that the Oneplus 5 is by far the superior phone and best value for money for what you get - it looks like an outstanding device and beats everything else hands down. This is why I have chosen to purchase the Oneplus 5 - its a no brainer. The only things that could improve it would be an IP rating for waterproofing/dust and wireless charging, but other that that it is absolutely flawless.

You don't need to, I would recommend upgrading a smartphone every two years - any sooner is a waste of money.

just purchased a 3t off eBay myself, haven't regretted it since. mainly because I'm saving for a car and college I couldn't afford the 5, but this is a welcome upgrade from the Nexus 6p I was using for the past 8 Months on lineage(buggy as all heck and slow). The main factor is these phones can be found secondhand for an incredible value, highly recommended if you can find one sub 300.
