OnePlus 3T was released in November 2016.

Assuming that Android O gets released as expected, it should be out of beta around October.

So, if OnePlus takes, lets say, 6 months to release Android O (which is a very conservative estimation), OP3T should be receiving that update around April, when the phone is 1 year and 5 months old. I guess it's safe to assume that, once again, a OnePlus phone will stop seeing security updates before the 2 year mark.

While I understand that you might need to test features for new devices in the open beta (it's a bigger user base), I can't say I really like how those users then get neglected for such a big period of time. Especially when those features were already tested over and over again in that hardware.

And this "limited development and QT resources" line is getting old. OnePlus is not a small startup anymore (if it ever was one).

Because they don't make money on software updates. They lose it.

Phone manufacturers make money on selling new devices, not keeping old ones. So, most phones reach End of Life around 18 to 24 months after they are released. Sometimes even less than that. And if you boycott every brand that does it, you'll run out of brands.

@David Y. we just need feature updates. its okay if you dont give us android P, but atleast provide features of android P and oxygen OS. This is a $479 phone. and android O will be out this year. This device was launched in december 2016. Software support should be atleast for 2 years! atleast till December 2018... This really doesnt make any sense buying $479 phone and getting device updates just for less than a year!!!!!!!!!!!? @Adam Krisko @oliver @Carl pie @carl pei

Thanks for the info. I'm worried that after the Android O update on OnePlus 3/T that if there are any bugs with that update ( there are always bugs) they won't be patched. I hope that some attention is still kept to the 3/T after the main update to quash any associated bugs with said update.

That's the same that I thought when I read. I want another android version after Android O. When I received op3 I thought that we were going to get the lastest stable Android version available for at least 3 years, not only 2. Now the only reason why I'll remain an op fan is that op phones are more optimized than other Android phones
