File transfer between OPO and Ubuntu 12.04

  1. johny.one Gingerbread Nov 19, 2014

    johny.one, Nov 19, 2014 :
Do I have to install any additional software or driver after connecting my OPO to Ubuntu 12.04? Or is it enough to connect them with the USB charging cable?

    dawntcherian, Aug 27, 2015 :
    Install mtpfs from your terminal
    • sudo apt-get install mtp-tools mtpfs

Get idVendor and idProduct of your mobile phone
    • mtp-detect | grep idVendor
    • mtp-detect | grep idProduct

Insert the follwing text to your 69-libmtp.rules file located at /lib/udev/rules.d replacing idVendor_got_above and idProduct_got_above
    • ATTR{idVendor}=="idVendor_got_above", ATTR{idProduct}=="idProduct_got_above", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="660", GROUP="audio", ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}="1", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1", TAG+="uaccess"

Doesn't work for me either, I get this message when calling mtp-detect in terminal:
    Code:
Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.6

    Listing raw device(s)
       No raw devices found.

After all of the changes dawntcherian said, you have to do :
    sudo service udev restart

then unplug and plug your phone, it will work.

    Worked for me too

Worked for me too - on my Onyx. Although, one can obtain the idVendor and idProduct alternately by typing in the command "lsusb" in the terminal when the phone is plugged in vs when it's not plugged in.
Once that's done, replace the idVendor_got_above and idProduct_got_above accordingly.
