[Comparison] OnePlus One camera against Find 5 and a DSLR!

  1. Martinrm Level: Jelly Bean Apr 20, 2014

    Martinrm, Apr 20, 2014 :
Warning! This thread may take a long time to load :)
    Hey everyone once again!

This time I got for you a much requested camera comparison! I decided to start a new thread since I may upload more comparison in the future and I like everything being grouped together in 1 thread. Plus we all can talk about how awesome the One did ;) I wanted to make this comparison as fair as possible, so I have laid out the whole process and the different tests I did for you guys! I think im rightfully confident that the OnePlus One can be pitted against a true DSLR.

    Case:
    The contenders
    1) One Plus One – 13Mp F/2.0
    2) Oppo Find 5 – 13MP F/2.2
    3) Nikon D3100 DSLR 12.1Mp DSLR 18/55mm 1:3.5-5.6G

    The Setup:
All the pictures were taken in roughly the same position at the same time of day. All cameras were set to auto mode with the flash turned off. All cameras were handheld and no tripods were used. All photos are original and unedited, no HDR or other filters used.

    Challenges:
    1) Bright Light
    2) Soft light
    3) Back Light
    4) Low light
    5) Extreme Low Light (Through a dark display case with minimal sunlight reaching the targets)
    6) Close up macro
    7) Pattern
    8) Depth of field
    9) Landscape

For the low light test this is the room I took the pictures in: The DSLR makes it took like there is more light than there actually was.
NOTE THIS IS NOT A PART OF THE TEST, I JUST WANT TO SHOW YOU THE CONDITIONS

Wow, absolutely crushed the Find 5 and actually held its own against the DSLR. This might be the best camera that's ever been put in a phone.

You totally deserved a winning spot to the Photomania's competition. Wow. I am impressed with you and with the One's camera. Bravo!

@Martinrm Well done, thank you for the comparisons. Opo all the way (Ok, the Nikon is better, but hello - that's a pro camera :p)

Just watching in my smartphone, but it seems like OPO has much better software than Find 7, it comes much closer to the look of the DSLR pictures, like colors and brightness...

Auto mode definitely affected the color for the OnePlus. Beyond that, the lens capability is definitely admirable! With a few manual adjustments, it could quickly match day-to-day shooting with a DSLR.

Awesome comparison! I've wanted a DSLR for some time now. My wife and I are trying to get pregnant which is the reason for wanting a DSLR. Looks the OPO would be a solid replacement for a DSLR. Not to mention I will always have it on me.

Very nice indeed. Though it seems in some of the photos, the OPO puts a slight yellow tinge on everything.
