[Verifying] Auto brightness too aggressive

  1. Rodriguezz Honeycomb Jun 26, 2017

    Rodriguezz, Jun 26, 2017 :
It´s not Auto Brightness, but Adaptive Brightness. It´s Google´s code, and i believe OnePlus is using it as, "off the shelf" code. I reported it as having erratic behaviour. Also, very imprecise when adjusting it manually. Or it´s suddenly too dim, or too bright.

Finding the same thing here with my OnePlus 5. Unusable in dimly lit rooms.
Been using the 3T since it came out last year, and that device never gave me any issues.

+1 In really dark environment with auto brithness: slider goes to 0 and really hard to use the screen. Should be a bit upper (+- 5%)

    Confirmed bu also witrh 4.5.3.
At least would be useful if, after correcting the auto setting too low, the phone saves the difference betweeen auto value and what set by the user and use automatically next time with same lux value.

The 4.5.3 update that was just released seems to have really helped this issue.

OP3 was perfect but am finding very difficult to read screen in dimly lit room on OP5. Hoping for a fix too.

This was awful on the initial release 4.5.2?, but got better for me once 4.5.3 was released.
I wouldn't mind if it were kept a little brighter though in low light - I figured it was because my 50 year old eyes just don't pick up the details in low light like they used to.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I find the current auto brightness perfect. I was surprised when I was finally able to read on my phone in a dark room without having to squint at my screen.

+1 Same issue, way too dark in dark rooms. It would be great if we could tweak the auto dimming, e.g. set a minimum and maximum, reaction time before dimming, etc. As it is, I have to turn automatic dimming off and keep adjusting manually.

Same here too dim in dark rooms and not bright enough on bright light. I'm always having to manually adjust it. Really annoying....
