[Gathering more information] After OTA update to 4.1.7 GPS is not working

from what I see this was just the same version as available via OTA - 4.1.7 compilation A3003_16_170821, at least this is what I see now, but during the remote session the agent could do anything like apply a script or reset something and then flash the new version. The fact is - it is fixed. And to be honest, I was positively surprised how easy it was to contact the support by chat, agree the session and get this fixed via remote session.

I run Linux on all my computers therefore the remote help is useless. Its also ridiculous that is required. If i had time i would rather have a functioning resurection remix.... unfortunately this phone is not as open as the OnePlus one. Lets face it, we will have to start flashing soon anyway and a completely botched 4.1.7 update with the GPS proves OnePlus is already tossed this phone to the side. I do not have high hopes for Android O.. OOS 4.1.7 has to have the gps jump started each time by another app such as GPS status. Somewhere there lies the issue. Clean flash 4.1.7 has a bug that 4.1.6 did not have.

Surprisingly no, I thought it would erase everything too but it did just what it was intended to do, downgrade OxygenOS.
When the process was done, all my apps, photos, contacts etc were just where I left them.
I even double checked in the "about phone" section to make sure it worked and it showed 4.1.6

However I wanted a clean fresh start anyway so once it was done I did a factory reset just to make sure everything is working and normal.

I forgot to add but I deviated from the instructions OnePlus provides. I used a method I saw on youtube, the link is provided. It's almost the same, the difference is I installed from internal storage rather than connecting to my PC.

    1. Downloaded OxygenOS 4.1.6 to my PC
    2. Transferred the downloaded file to the OP3T
    3. Loaded the phone into recovery mode
    4. Install from internal storage

I installed the update yesterday and so far everything seems good.
It seems like they made the menu fonts and lock screen clock somewhat smaller.
Today will be my first day of using with 100% charged battery, so far so good, I havent seen any crazy drops.
I was running 4.1.6 before this update so my GPS was working normally.
After the update it was working as well, how long that lasts remains to be seen.

In the meanwhile I installed 4.5.0 as well on my OP3 and GPS was behaving well today: fast fix and no connection losses. Let's hope it stays like this!
So far it looks like a solid release !

I know this isn't exactly scientific but here are my results of the day.
Also know that after the update to 4.5.0 I factory reset my phone again for a clean install.

Unfortunately my GPS was not able to lock on my commute home today :(
Same exact issue as with 4.1.7 so I had to change to device only to make it lock

I feel the battery is a little less optimized as compared to 4.1.6
Leave home at 100% everyday and do not top up during the day until home.
    I noticed a 20% difference, I usually end up home with about 70 - 60% but I am at 48% now
I dont do anything intensive, just IM, social media, clash royale and waze as an idea for my typical day

I actually like this update minus not fixing the gps and that slight battery reduction.
This is my experience perhaps you will have a different one.
I am now deciding to possibly go back to 4.1.6 for the second time lol
